Pousada de Valença

Valença
Description / Facilities
Old and attractive border town, the seat of the county, Valença do Minho, stands on the top of a hill on the river Minho and is dominated by the fortress of two towers and double wall, from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
In Valença do Minho, Pousada de São Teotónio sits inside the old fortress and offers a superb view of the river and Tui, on the opposite bank. The Pousada de Valença was inaugurated in 1962, in a project by the architect João de Mello Breyner Andresen.
This Pousada embraces the Minho River Valley, from the green Portuguese shores to the Galician progress that surrounds the cathedral of Tui.
Situated on top of the fortified historic center of Valença, on the border with Spain, the Pousada de São Teotónio has a magnificent view over the lands of the neighboring country and rests on the walls of the village where one can feel the harmony of nature in a setting idyllic.
