The Vila de Gandarela de Basto, in the parish of S. Clemente e Ribas, is the urban center of the north area of the municipality.
In Gandarela stand out two buildings with historic interest : a Casa da Gandarela, manor of the 17th century , possess a magnificent garden of camellias, and a chapel in honor of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira, its great devotion goes back to the time of D. Afonso Henriques, after the battle of Ourique.
