It is a slate processing Company founded in 1965 by Manuel Carvalho da Silva, who had started working in a blackboards factory with the age of 10 years old.

In 1985, his son Joaquim Tavares purchased new equipment and new facilities were built.  An increased production was the result of this investment, being exported 95% of the production. The company is now located in an old quarry slate and it is considered the largest in this sector in Portugal.
It has now working 14 employees, who stand out for the quality of the final product. It produces several slate products, among which are the nostalgic school boards. The factory visits are made under appointment.
