In 2001, the centenary of the birth of José Régio, the Vila do Conde Municipal Library held its current premises, at Dr. António José de Sousa Pereira Street, after the poet’s name. In a building designed from scratch, various services and provision advocated from the UNESCO Manifesto on Public Libraries were installed and integrated into the National Network of Public Libraries, Vila do Conde finally experiences the realization of an old aspiration.
