The big festival in honor of Nossa Sr.ª do Mar, Saint Patroness of our fishermen, people of a lot of faith and a lot of tradition, takes place in the Bairro Piscatório (Fishing Neighborhood), in Silvalde , the 1st weekend of August.
Every year, the tradition always maintains a program full of animation and music. On the first day, is held the already traditional “Desfile do Pescador” (Fisherman's Parade) between the City Hall and the Neighborhood. Along the city streets, the men, proudly dressed of fishermen, and the women all showy with their aprons, remember and honor the profession of those who risk their life to give sustenance to their families.
Thousands of people contemplate, year after year, the magnificent work of the people of the sea.
