Cepeda Bridge

Paredes
Description
The medieval bridge over the River Sousa, on the road between Paredes and Penafiel, was built on the old route named by “Estrada Real” that started in the city of Porto to Vila Real.
Rebuilt in the early fifteenth century, the bridge consists of a single arch of narrow and elongated stone “voussoirs”.
The easel platform is little pronounced, having a maximum of 3,4 meters width. It has a paving stone floor and the parapets fit through a “male-female” system.
At the entrance of the bridge, on the left bank, there is a carved stone “bench” in the parapets, for the toll bridge.
