Cais do Rio Minho (Rio Minho Quay)
In front of the quay of river Minho it is located the main fishing area for the Vila Nova de Cerveira and Goián (Spain) fishermen, whose the main species are eels, lamprey and shad. Near the river Minho, we still can see some “carochos” (typical boat of the river Minho). This type of vessel was very important in the past, both in people and goods transport and fishing as well. During the smuggling times, decades ago, this vessel also was very important. Nowadays we can notice that this vessel has been disappearing, being replaced by metal sheet boats.
