Bairro do Castelo is a walled area, which gave rise to the city of Lamego. It can be accessed through two entrances (Porta dos Fogos or Porta da Villa or Porta dos Figos and Porta do Sol); these define the structure of the ancient borough wall. There are several remains and buildings from the early days of the city, out of which the castle and the cistern stand out.
